Aliens for Dinner

Posted on | April 28, 2009 | 7 Comments

Last week, I found the coolest thing on Boing Boing. They had found some fun Russian folks who had posted this particular brand of food art on Livejournal. I thought it would be a blast to cook, and indeed it was. The whole family got in on it.

First, we stuck spaghetti through pieces of cut up hot dogs. This transformed them into aliens. Sage kept complimenting me on having “such a good imagination!”

Then we cooked the little aliens. They made a variety of odd sounds as they met their doom in a boiling pot. We noticed that the aliens with lots of appendages sticking out all over the place came to a “rolling” boil.

Draining the aliens.

Aliens with butter. This is after a lively discussion on whether mustard or spaghetti sauce would be the best choice for a topping. I like them with mustard. We were out of spaghetti sauce.

An alien surfing.

Yes, I set a bad example by playing with my food.

I still think the common ground between hot dog and spaghetti is tomato… hence ketchup is the best choice. And somehow I feel like I helped by egging you on in the comments section, but in reality, I know you would’ve done it anyway.

Great job. Maybe I should try this sometime.

They are wonderful. Who needs a bun when you have spaghetti?
